If you remember TaB, you’re definitely not imagining it. 😄

The famous diet soda was real—and it had a surprisingly long history.

🥤 YES, TAB REALLY EXISTED!

TaB was introduced by The Coca-Cola Company in 1963 as its first diet soft drink.

The name “TaB” was reportedly selected through a computer-assisted search involving more than 300,000 possible names.

It became one of the best-known diet sodas of its era, especially in the United States.

📺 BEFORE DIET COKE, THERE WAS TAB

Here’s the part many younger people don’t realize:

TaB came almost 20 years before Diet Coke.

When Coca-Cola was developing Diet Coke in the early 1980s, TaB was already an established diet beverage and was actually a major brand for the company.

Diet Coke was eventually launched in 1982, becoming enormously successful.

😮 SO WHAT HAPPENED TO TAB?

TaB survived for decades despite the rise of Diet Coke and other zero-calorie beverages.

There were even different versions of the brand over the years, including TaB Clear and TaB Energy.

But changing consumer preferences eventually led Coca-Cola to reduce its portfolio.

In 2020, Coca-Cola announced that it would phase out TaB as part of a broader effort to simplify its product lineup.

So if you remember seeing TaB in stores, you’re remembering a real product from Coca-Cola’s history.

🕰️ WHY DO SO MANY PEOPLE REMEMBER IT?

For people who grew up with TaB, the name can trigger strong memories of:

🥤 The distinctive cans and bottles
📺 Old television commercials
🛒 Grocery-store shelves
🍕 Restaurants and fast-food meals
👨‍👩‍👧 Family members drinking diet soda

That’s why posts asking “Do you remember TaB?” often generate thousands of comments from people sharing their memories.

🧠 THE TASTE WAS DEFINITELY UNIQUE

TaB had a distinctive flavor that people either loved or couldn’t stand.

It was originally sweetened with saccharin, which contributed to the characteristic taste many longtime fans remember.

For some people, no modern diet soda tastes quite like the original TaB.

💔 AND YES… IT’S GONE

Coca-Cola officially announced the phase-out of TaB in 2020.

That means if you remember buying it years ago, you’re remembering a genuine piece of soft-drink history—not a forgotten brand that never existed.

🥤 NOW THE REAL QUESTION…

Did you actually drink TaB, or do you only remember seeing it in stores?

And be honest…

Did you like the taste? 😂👇
